A play about the life of Jesus Christ including His ministry, parables and healings.
The Messiah's Story script was written by Nathan Bassett, who spent almost 40 years as an actor with the Original American Passion Play in Bloomington, Illinois. That play completed its run after its 100th season in 2023. Nathan felt led to continue to tell this great story so the task was taken to write a play that depicts many stories surrounding the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. After many, many hours were spent in writing and script review, the play script became copyrighted in December 2023 and then proceeded to enter into production with its first season in 2024. Two performances were scheduled with the hopes that in future seasons, that the performance schedule would grow.
This play is unique in that there are no opening or closing curtains, minimal lighting and just a few props. With the lack of curtains, most all scenes are "action live" so, for example, an audience member will see Jesus nailed to the cross, the cross lifted up and then shortly afterwards, see His body removed and carried to the tomb. This is an audience participation play as some actors will also sit with the audience at times and interact with them. At times, audience members may actually be on stage with the cast. This play will present itself in a much more intimate setting and closeness.
This play will be used as an outreach to current ministries such as local churches. The Easter season will be the main focus for performance schedules. In addition, there will be no charge for attendance but a church may suggest a free will offering be taken. If you have any questions regarding this play or wish to speak with someone about booking Messiah's Story, please fill out the Request form and someone will reach out to you. Hope to see you at a performance near you.
